NotesParents: William Almond and Sarah Allen.

William Almond was a drayman for a brewery. In May, 1885, he was killed in an accident, when a barrel of beer fell on his head and crushed it.

Sarah Allen Almond, their mother, died in March, 1891, of bronchitis and cardiac problems.

The girls (Sarah and Elizabeth) lived in a shelter as the brothers (Ralph and William) were unable to care for them.

In 1891, S. Almond, 9 (along with sister E. Almond, 13) arrived at Quebec, Canada, in a group of 22 girls from Boys and Girls Refuge (MacPherson Homes), Manchester, Lancashire, England, accompanied by Miss Smithers and en route to (Marchmont Home) Belleville, Ontario, Canada.

On November 7, 1898, at Hastings, Ontario, Canada, a marriage was registered between Sarah Almond, 18, domestic servant, born in England to William and Sarah Almond; and another home child, William H. Mundy, 21, laborer, born in England to William and Catherine Mundy.

William and Sarah Almond Mundy had at least 5 children: Thora May Mundy, born about 1900, Ontario, Canada (died in childbirth); Muriel Jannette Mundy, born: May 19, 1903, Ontario, Canada; Elizabeth (Sadie) Mundy, born 1910, Alberta, Canada; Allen Richard Mundy, born May 13, 1907, Ontario, Canada; and Albert Mundy, born about 1901 (died 1920 of an enlarged heart).

After having 4 of their five children, William and Sarah went West to homestead in Alberta:

They had another child, Elizabeth, in 1910. It was a hard scrabble, and then William was killed by a runaway team of horses about 1912. Though his life was short, family stories indicate that William and Sarah were very happy.

After the death of William, Sarah Mundy met and married Elmer Oxton and had one more son, Floyd.
